Foods that will Help Soothe a Sore Throat

by - Tuesday, July 26, 2016

I am sat at my desk in pain and not being able to eat as I have a bad sore throat; I tried some remedies online that really helped me and I thought to share with my readers :-)

Happy Tuesday to you :-)

The first thing I did this morning was to heat some water until it is very warm, but not so warm that you can't drink it. Mix in ½ teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon or a little less baking soda, stir, and test the temperature. Pour some of the liquid into your throat, let it sit for a moment, then gargle. Do this twice in a row 3 times daily and trust me this worked like magic its unbelievable.

I also used some paracetamol pain killers to ease rising throat pain so it was a combination of both; thank me later :-)

Here are the foods you can eat when you have a sore throat/ foods that will help ease a sore throat:-

Smoothies:-

As the sun is still shining in the UK, it is the perfect weather to mix up some smoothies :-) A smoothie will cool your throat’s red-hot soreness. As a bonus, blueberries contain astringent tannins that soothe sore throats, while bananas are soft and easy to swallow, and are loaded with fibre and flu-fighting vitamin C.

Scrambled Eggs:-

I love to kick start my day with some scrambled eggs especially as eggs are a very good source of protein that also contains omega-6 fatty acids, which can can help fight inflammation.

Ginger:-

Ginger is one of the most powerful weapons in your kitchen's arsenal when it comes to battling a sore throat, as it opens up sinuses and helps to clear mucous from the nose and throat. In addition, ginger also boasts anti-inflammatory properties.

Oatmeal:-

Oatmeal is a great thing to eat when you’re feeling sick, as it's full of nutrients and fibre that will help your body fight off illness. Meanwhile, the oats contain omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium, which will further speed up the healing process.

Chamomile Tea:-

Chamomile is another herb that has a history of a sore-throat folk remedy, primarily due to its abilities as a natural pain-killer, but also because of anti-spasmodic properties that help reduce coughing.
Mashed Potatoes:-

Foods with a soft, mushy consistency such as mashed potatoes are easy to eat while suffering from a sore throat. While there isn’t anything particularly medicinal about potatoes, at least they’ll be delicious and painless while going down.
