Chinese Hot Chili Recipe

Morning Foodies, ever wondered how Chinese make their chili oils so nice, that we almost cannot resist?

Well here's a very very EASY tutorial on how to make that jar of awesomeness :-)  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Maybe I should even start packaging and selling these lol :-)

Ingredients

  • Crushed Chili
  • 200ml Vegetable Oil or Peanut Oil
  • 50ml Sesame Oil
  • Sea Salt to taste
  • Handful of Star Anise
  • 2 Tbsp Black Peppercorn
Method

Place the Vegetable oil in a wok or saucepan on high heat for about 7 minutes, you need to make sure this is not heated for more than 7 minutes as you do no need the oil to be burnt. Tip (drop a small onion in the oil to check the level of hotness).

Now combine the chili, star anise and peppercorn together in a deep heat proof bowl and mix well.

Now add the oil into the chili mix PLS NOTE- this will be very hot so be careful. Mix well, add salt to taste and leave to cool for about 10 minutes.

Once completely cool, add the sesame oil for extra oriental flavour, transfer into a jar and store for up to one year.

Enjoy with your dishes and avoid spending £2 every time you buy your takeaway :-)
