Good Monday Morning; It is so gloomy out there today. And for all you Coffee lovers out there, this is the perfect opportunity for you to grab a cuppa and sit back to read the below facts about your favourite brew!

I was shocked with some of these facts myself.

  1. Coffee is the world's second most valuable traded commodity only behind Petroleum.
  2. Energy drinks don't have as much Caffeine as your favourite Costa or Starbucks Coffee.
  3. The world consumes close to 2.25 billion cups of Coffee everyday.
  4. Coffee is most effective if consumed between 9.30am and 11.30am.
  5. Coffee beans actually aren't beans, they are fruit pits.
  6. Coffee doesn't taste like it smells because Saliva wipes out half of the flavour.
  7. Drinking a cup of Caffeinated Coffee significantly improves blood flow.
  8. There is a Coffee shop in France where not saying "Hello" & "Please" makes your Coffee more expensive. lol
  9. 54% of the Americans drink Coffee every day.
  10. The word Coffee comes from the Arabic for "Wine of the Bean".

So are you as shocked as I am lol?

Today 7th February marks the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) .NFL is the highest level of professional American football in United States. The game was created as a result of agreement between NFL and American Football League (AFL). The two were merged in 1970. Super Bowl Sunday is considered national holiday by most fans. It is the second-largest day for food consumption in the U.S. after Thanksgiving Day. The Super Bowl is also one of the most watched American broadcasts attracting more than a hundred million viewers.

Today the  NFL is going gold for the 50th anniversary of the the Super Bowl where Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in a battle for the Lombardi Trophy.
The game will be held at Levi Stadium, the new home of the San Fransisco 49ers.
Its a shame we in the UK only get to see it around 11.30pm at night, but I'll sure be tuning in tonigh. Hope you're watching too?

Happy Chinese New Year to all our Chinese readers all over the world.

The new year, also known as the Spring Festival, is marked by the lunisolar Chinese calendar, so the date changes from year to year.
The festivities usually start the day before the New Year and continue until the Lantern Festival, the 15th day of the new year. Each Chinese New Year is characterised by one of 12 animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is divided into 12 blocks (or houses) just like its western counterpart, but with the major difference being that each house has a time-length of one year instead of one month.
This year it's the Year of the Monkey, the ninth animal in the cycle. The next Year of the Monkey will be in 2028.

The personality of the Monkey

People born in the Year of the Monkey are characterised as lively, quick-witted, curious, innovative and mischievous, but it is also believed to be one of the most unlucky years in the Chinese calendar.
The general image of people in this zodiac sign is of always being smart, clever and intelligent, especially in their career and wealth.
In addition, their gentleness and honesty bring them an everlasting love life. Although they were born with enviable skills, they still have several shortcomings, such as an impetuous temper and a tendency to look down upon others.

Today 5th February 2016 is being marked as World Nutella Day. And for all you Chocolate spread lovers, it would be good to join in the fun.

World Nutella Day was founded by an American blogger named Sara Rosso. She is a big lover of the Chocolate spread hence why she founded World Nutella Day on February 5th, 2007.

And Nutella fans loved it! They came together to celebrate their passion for Nutella® on social media through photos, recipes, poems, and messages. From Italy to Australia to the Americas, World Nutella Day has since become a global phenomenon with people sharing and spreading the wonder of Nutella at home, work, and school; in their communities off- and online; with family, friends, and fellow fans everywhere. Lets all join in the fun and celebrate with fellow Nutella lovers all over the world :-)

Today 4th February is World Cancer Day.

World Cancer Day is a chance to reflect on what you can do, make a pledge and take action. Whatever you choose to do ‘We can. I can.’ make a difference to the fight against cancer. And the only way to eradicate cancer is to help cancer charities who need funding and also to help people and families living through it.

It is also very important for women to get their smear tests done in order to cut risk of developing  hard to spot cervical cancer. "Cervical cancer does not show symptoms until it is at an advanced stage" Please make sure if you are between the ages of 25 to 49 years old, please get yourself checked.

It is also very important to support research laboratories to find cure for cancer and donate either money, clothes, stationaries etc to Charity organisations in need of them.

Here is a stash of clothes I'll be donating to my local breast cancer Charity this week.

As Valentines day is only some days away, I'm sure you've probably got a date night planned with your better half.

I personally don't like eating out on Valentines day as most restaurants are always chock a block,  you never get time to enjoy your meal and they also give you a limited amount of time to be there and trust me this defeats the purpose.

So are you having a casual dinner at home or cooking to impress? I've put down a list of 5 easy, romantic dinners you can try out for you an your loved one.

Unless you're planning on serving up beans on toast, scrambled eggs or frozen pizza, finding recipes that feed two people can be a tricky task.
I know you've got better things to do than fiddle about halving that spaghetti bolognese for six recipe, the below have been hand-picked for you for that fabulous dinner that were made for two. Go on, spend less time in the kitchen and more time having a chat over a glass of wine.
  • A dash of peppercorn sauce added on a bed steak, roast potatoes and some mixed veggies could do on a very romantic Valentines night. Don't forget to include a bottle of Rose wine.

Recipe for this meal is available here-https://youtu.be/Z-_yHzAFXmw

  • If you're not a fan of meat; you can opt out by serving some delicious Tillapia fillets on a bed of Asparagus & mixed peppers, served with new potatoes.

  • Not forgetting my Afro-Carribean readers, you can go traditional by making some easy Jollof rice & mixed meat sauce.
