As I logged into google this morning, the image that caught my eye is that of Spain's tomato throwing day, La Tomatina. Image below

La Tomatina (Spain's tomato throwing festival) is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, a town located in the East of Spain 30 km / 19 miles from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in this tomato fight purely for fun. Looks very messy but fun at the same time.

This festival is held on the last Wednesday in August since 1945 and has since been a tradition in Spain and has several rules as per below:-

Rules of the Festival

  • The tomatoes have to be squashed before throwing to avoid injuries
  • No other projectiles except tomatoes are allowed
  • Participants have to make way for trucks and lorries
  • After the second shot indicative of ending the tomato hurl, no tomatoes should be thrown

Here's wishing all my Espanol readers a Happy La Tomatina day, hope you are celebrating with lots and lots of tomatoes :-)

Hey guys welcome back to my blog, hope you all had an amazing weekend like I did? It was my Birthday weekend and I had fun with my family and friends, I shared some pictures in my last blog, check it out here:-http://saiprojectscooking.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/its-my-birthday-yayyyyyy-plus-giveaway.html

Now lets talk business... Aside from being a Food and Lifestyle blogger; I'm actually a Business Consultant. I studied Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at University so I'm very much into my business side of things. Get a cup of tea, some biscuits, sit back and relax as this is a long post :-)

Are you thinking of setting up a business, something different from your normal 9 to 5 JOB (Just Over Broke)? Don't get me wrong, its good to have a Job, I still have my day job, However I've noticed that only very few people are bold enough to plunge into that entrepreneurial sphere. Many would rather stick to their daily job. And the truth is a lot of people have fantastic business ideas but putting them into fruition is the problem!

I'll be sharing with you today some of the tips you should consider when thinking of a side hustle or just looking to start yourself up in the business world.

Be Passionate
There's no point venturing into a business that you have no love or passion for. Be focused and dedicated to your idea, no-one else can be as passionate as you are when it comes to your product or service. Be organised, discipline and commit well to your plan.

Think of and Create a Plan
When I mean plan, I mean a Business plan. What are the fundamentals of the business, what will your product or service be, who will your customers be, who are the owners, what do you think the future holds for your business & industry?
Make it enthusiastic, professional, complete and concise.
If you are applying for a loan, state clearly how much you want, precisely how you're going to use it and how the money will make your business more profitable, thereby ensuring repayments.

A business plan is not just for the bank, it also belongs to you to be able to go back on as it  includes the very important numbers (finances) that you'll probably need to memorise.

Get help
It can be very difficult to do things on your own without the help of anyone. Try and ask for help, little things like the resources needed to complete your business can sometimes not be within reach. For example if your business involves delivery, you can ask friends or family members for help or speak to a logistics company that can offer you a service that is very good value for money.

Lastly, ladies and gentlemen HOLD UP, all of the above is all well and good but the truth is, in real life its not all hunky dory & and doesn't always happen like this.
Even if you can write a business plan or ask a friend or Business Consultant like myself to help you with one, or even if you go online to learn how to write one, you need to ask yourself a very good question, who are you going to tender your business plan to?

As we all know, banks don't really lend money to start up businesses as before and payday loans is a NO NO. Unless you already have a well paying job, or receive a big redundancy payment, or better still if you're lucky enough to go to the bank of Mum and Dad!

Apart the above, who will realistically give you a loan of £20k to start a business, as you need to pump alot of money into it (depending on what you're looking to do). You might be lucky enough to get a Venture Capitalist company to fund you, however we all know that VC's just don't fund Businesses right now except if you are a tech expert that can create or develop a fab App that will probably help me make my coffee from my kitchen, and bring it upstairs into my bedroom lol..!!!

Personally I believe in multiple streams of income rather than just your normal 9 to 5 as this gives you an opportunity to not just rely on your job as companies can hire and fire you at any time.

I know when I mentioned £20k above, you're probably thinking I want to start a business but can nowhere get that much; never mind, you can start a business with a shoestring budget or no money at all. Think about what you are good at, use your talent to earn yourself a living. For example if you are really good with cleaning, you can start a cleaning company with little or no money, all you need is yourself and some cheap cleaning products. From there, you can be bigger than that the biggest cleaning companies in the world. Same goes to hair dressers, barbers, nanny's etc.

I have heard ex-cons say they are not employable due to whatever their situation or circumstance but the truth is, you can make something out of nothing. E.g if yo are an ex-con you have to be honest.. whatever service you will be providing has to be done out of honesty. As an ex-con, you can start a home removals company. All you need to do is invest in a truck and you're good to go

What you also need to know is that majority of start-ups fail within 5 years of launch, however the most basic Businesses do not; such as Cleaners, bloggers, hairdressers, barbers, removals e.t.c.
This is mostly because these small businesses always build up their own fan base from scratch, honest with their customers and mostly friendly to them!

Knowledge they say is power, get yourself some form of information about what you want to do. Read books, visit your local citizens advice bureau, thank God for Google there are tonnes of information about startups, visit startup seminars, and the easiest is asking people already involved in similar vocations already.

A lot of people wouldn't fail in their businesses if they've already spoken to people that have previously been involved in the same type of businesses. After-all, there is a reason it's still working for them! Yes there are few self centered individuals that wouldn't help or mislead you, but don't let that discourage you to try someone else.

Lesson:- There's one thing I've learnt as a business person, people tend to give you more audience when they are aware you are a business man or woman especially within the business community. You could be the next big investor in a new venture!

Here are some quotes to inspire Success in your Life and Business:-

  • "The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same"- Colin R. Davis
  • "Opportunities don't happen. You create them" - Chris Grosser
  • "There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed"- Ray Goforth
  • "Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion"- Tony Hsieh
  • "All progress takes place outside the comfort zone"- Michael John Bobak

I hope the above tips have somewhat provided you with the best information you need to starting yourself up as an Entrepreneur. Always remember, you can do it,,!

Let me know your thoughts on this..xx

Hi Foodies, I felt like pancakes this morning so I decided to make them. Happy Friday whoo hoo..

Here's what you'll need:-

2 eggs
half a cup of milk
2 cups of plain flour
sugar to taste (depending on preference)
pinch of salt to taste
half a teaspoon of dry pepper (to give it that kick)
half a tablespoon of olive oil
half a cup of melted butter
half a cup of water

utensils:-
hand mixer (optional)
egg whisk
frying pan
Mixing bowl

Method:-

Add the melted butter into the mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and add into the bowl of butter and whisk together.
Now add the flour and mix together; add the water, salt, sugar, milk and pepper. Mix all together until fine and in watery form (do not add too much water, if not sure just add it bit by bit). Mix well and leave aside.

Heat the olive oil in your frying pan until really hot and gently pour the mixture in avoiding any spaces and bubbles.

Your pancake is ready.. Don't forget to make Pancakes on shrove Tuesday next year on February 9th 2016; it seems far away but it'll come just so soon.

My husband had his with ice-cream and a selection of fruits :-)

Thanks for reading and have a fab weekend..xxx

Hey Foodies welcome back, I can't believe the weekend is nearly here; well I'm quite excited as its my birthday on 22nd August whoop whoop; I'm ageing gracefully and getting younger by the day. Leo's rock :-)

Now have you ever wondered why your skin is not as glowy as you'll like it, perhaps you are not eating right. Now eat yourself beautiful with the below foods for glowing spot-free skin.. Thank me later..:-)

-Almond Milk- Dairy is an inflammatory and when you consume too much, it can aggravate skin redness and acne so next time unsweetened almond milk which is packed with loads of vitamin E which is not only great for your skin, it also helps keep your hair and nails conditioned.

-Dark Chocolate- Has lots and lots of antioxidants, good-quality dark chocolate contains less sugar and fat than your average chocolate bar.

-Salmon- As we all know, Omega-3 fatty acids can do wonders for your skin but oily fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines are among the top sources. They help fight skin inflammation and also help preserve collagen in your skin to keep you wrinkle-free and baby-soft.
*please note that you should limit these fish whilst pregnant*

-Spinach-Spinach is packed with memory-boosting, anti inflammatory benefits and is a great alternative way of getting your daily dose of Omega-3 if you're not a fish lover like me.

-Honey- Amazingly full of antioxidants, antibacterial and extremely mositurising. Honey is not just good for slathering on toast, its is also really good to use as a face mask for a pore-unclogging treat that will leave your skin looking radiant.

Fresh Tomatoes- Tomatoes contain lycopene, an antioxidant that protects skin from sun damage. They are also rich source of Vitamins A and C.

Avocados- Great for guacamole, perfect for mashing up and using as a mask for your skin and hair. The Omega-9 fats and Vitamin E will make your skin glow like never before.

Coconut Oil- With a high burning temperature and fats your body can metabolise fast, coconut oil is great to rub on the skin as a natural, hydrating mosituriser that will melt into your skin leaving you feeling soft.

Tumeric- Part of the ginger family, looks like curry and its something most of us avoid. However it has brilliant antiseptic qualities leaving your skin feeling fresh and gentle.

Water- The best of them all, yes its the oldest trick in the book but keeping hydrated will stop you from overloading on sugary drinks and plump out your skin for a flawless glow.

Hey guys, hope you had a good weekend?

Mine was great fun, I went out with my friend & her kids on Friday, we went shopping and also ended up in Nandos.. I love love Nandos :-) On Saturday, I had my niece over and I spent most of Sunday filming.

Before I go on today's post, I just want to say a big thank you to all my blog readers. We hit a high stats this month, you guys are super awesome so THANK YOU THANK YOU :-)

Onto today's post, so my niece came over on Saturday to see my daughter, and we got talking. She's seeing this guy who she's very much in love with (she's 19) and she asked me if I could advise her on where they can go to on a date.

Her boyfriend wants to go Ice-skating and she prefers to go to a nice restaurant to chill, which is what I would do as well.

Now as a Foodie, I remember when I met my hubby, I used to always want to go to a Thai or Chinese restaurant (he still thinks I'm weird) but I think that if you wanna go on a date, doing things to keep you busy is not necessarily romantic or can I say not exactly intimate enough to get to know the other person. And as the saying goes, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach" there you go!

Almost every relationship starts off with a formal date at a fancy restaurant or joint and I know some people prefer to either go to the pub, go paint balling, cinemas or to a comedy show etc. However those sort of outings will not exactly give you the opportunity to know the other person. Don;t get me wrong, they are fun to do but ending a day after paint-balling can be extremely tiring and I can bet you just want to sleep after a day paint-balling.

Apart from what you are wearing, the food you order can make or break the chemistry with the person sitting across you. When you go out on a date, you should be able to look into the eyes of the other person and talk to each other, get to know them a bit more. Ask each other questions; a date can lead to a happy ending or marriage.

According to Fox News magazine, the below foods are deemed sexy when you order them on a date.

Steak
Apparently ordering steak on a date can impress a man lol; it is insanely sexy when a girl knows how to cut steak. When a man sees you take control of a steak, it'll make him think of you taking control in the bedroom later on lol.

Salad
Not many men fancy a salad on a date and when a woman orders a salad on a date, the man will see you as a health-conscious herbivore and will likely make him feel uncomfortable for ordering his man-steak.

Wine
Probably one of the best things to order on a date, its cool, relaxing and gets the atmosphere on a nice groove. After a nice glass of wine, you'll start to relax and enjoy yourself on the date & when you're relaxed, you'll be yourself, which will naturally give off a sexier vibe.

Let me know your thoughts guys...

Any questions, requests or suggestion; please leave a comment below.
