If you're from the UK or have been to the UK; then you'll surely know that beer is one of our staple drinks.
If you ever walk into the alcohol section in a supermarket or corner shop; there's every possibility that you'll wanna grab yourself a beer.
Beer in England has been brewed for hundreds of years. As a beer brewing country, England is known for its top fermented cask beer (also called real ale) which finishes maturing in the cellar of the pub rather than at the brewery and is served with only natural carbonation.
English beer styles include bitter, mild, brown ale and old ale. Stout, porter and India Pale Ale were also originally brewed in London. Lager style beer has increased considerably in popularity since the mid 20th century. Other modern developments include consolidation of large brewers into multinational corporations; growth of beer consumerism; expansion of microbreweries and increased interest in bottle conditioned beers.
National Beer Day was chosen because 15 June is also the date that Magna Carta was sealed in 1215 and ale is mentioned in clause 35 of Magna Carta, which states that "Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn, namely 'the London quarter."- wiki.com
Beer Day Britain was instigated by beer sommelier, writer and drinks educator Jane Peyton. It took place for the first time in 2015. The main focus of the day is the National Cheers To Beer that takes place at 7 pm when people also sing the Cheers To Beer anthem co-written by Jane Peyton.

History of Fish and Chip Day
To talk of the history of this holiday is, as in the case of so many others, to speak of the origins of that which it celebrates. Fish and Chip seem an odd thing to have become the foundation for an entire cultures working class, but much comes into focus when you understand the economy and industry of the time it took hold. In the late 1800’s, trawl fishing became a major part of the industry in the North Sea, resulting in a growing availability of fresh fish in areas further inland, especially within the cities. Anyone who understands economics knows that ‘easily available’ means ‘cheaper to get your hands on’.
Cheap, filling, and high caloric food created an excellent foundation for a working class that held incredibly physically demanding jobs. Thus it was that “Chippers” started cropping up all over major population centers, the vendors that served fish and chips to the people on the street. From there, the meal spread all over the world and is now popular all over Canada (being sold from ‘Chip Wagons’) and throughout the USA. In the America’s it can be found in everything from corner burger shops as part of their fry menu, to some of the most upscale restaurants which provide them with only the best cod and sides. It really is a meal that crosses all the boundaries of culture, class, and status.
How to Celebrate Fish and Chip Day
Well, it starts off simple enough, doesn’t it? Pop on over to your favorite Chipper and get yourself a paper-full of this delicious and filling meal. Try it, however, you like it, with a little tartar sauce in the US, a bit of mayonnaise in Canada, Ketchup in the UK or whatever strikes you as your favorite thing to flavor your dish with. Happy World Milk Day, today 1st June 2018 is a day celebrated around the world; the tradition of celebrating World Milk Day on June 1st came from the fact that many countries were already celebrating World Milk Day on or around this date. A date in late May was originally proposed, but some countries felt that they already had too many holidays around this time. As a result, June 1st became the special day dedicated to milk.
World Milk Day puts a lot of attention on milk and does a great job in publicising activities connected with the milk industry. The fact that many countries around the globe all choose this specific day for World Milk Day shows that milk is a food that is cherished worldwide.
