Europe's Biggest Street Party- Notting Hill Carnival
Happy Sunday to all of my readers; hope you're enjoying your weekend so far? And if you're in the UK, you're probably super duper happy as we have a Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 31st August which brings me to today's blog post.
Every year, thousands of Britain's come together to celebrate the biggest carnival in Britain- (The Notting Hill Carnival). It is a 2 day event, the Sunday event is for the children's day and Monday is for adults. It usually falls on the last Sunday & Monday in August to mark the end of summer as kids prep to go back to school.
The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe and originated in 1964 as a way for Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate their own cultures and traditions. Taking place in the streets of London W11, the Notting Hill Carnival is an amazing array of sounds, colourful sights and social solidarity.
Any tourist or visitor that visits the UK around this time are always so eager to attend the carnival. I haven't been in about 12 years, but the times I've been, I have so much enjoyed it, particularly the food especially Caribbean Food. We’re talking about the wonderful aromas of traditional Caribbean food. The Notting Hill Carnival provides the perfect introduction to jerk chicken, rice and peas and rum punch as well as the odd taste of other exotic cuisines. Also bumping into old friends, the parade & dance are usually my Notting Hill Carnival highlights.
Here are a few pictures of the carnival incase you haven't heard of it before. Let me know if you still attend and what you enjoy/ed at the carnival.
Take care and have a good Bank Holiday weekend.

Yes dear, this is a world famous carnival and I really wish to attend this once. A friend of mine suggested me to plan a party on the theme of this carnival at venues San Francisco. I did so and it turned out to be a great party.
